One Year Ago
One Year Ago,
One Year Ago I saw your last breath, but was there for your entrance.
One Year Ago I saw your last breath, but was there for your entrance.
One Year Ago I lost my hope, my faith, but was repaired by love.
One Year Ago I thought was the end, but was really the beginning.
One Year Ago was the last time I held your hand, but the first time you used your wings.
One Year Ago I did not lose a sister, but received an angel.

Hebron Church Family
Pastor Leon and Betty Dodson were Liza's spiritual support during her ordeal. Sonja ministered to Liza by regularly sending loving, encouraging, thoughtful cards and gifts. Your prayers and visits have refreshed and encouraged our dear daughter. We feel the love and presence of Christ in you and your church family. You have been a great support to our family. We love you!
Ruby, Liza's Best Friend
Liza and Ruby grew up together since there were about 10 years old. They were in the PACAS dance group together. They went to Lake Braddock School. Ruby is an OR nurse at Inova Hospital. She was always there for Liza not only as a good friend but also she had been a medical support and helped referred medical specialists to Liza. Ruby works at Inova where Liza was treated and she visits Liza during her lunch break even her off days. I remember Liza telling me that God sent Ruby at the time she needed someone to help her. Ruby continues to call and follow up on us. Ruby is like a daughter to me and Ed.

River of Life Family
Your unceasing prayers have given Liza and our family strength. You have gone through the storm with us and God's strength gave us strength to go on. Pastor Joe was very courageous to minister to Liza and our family as he had recently experience the loss of his beloved wife, Emy. You were all praying at seven o'clock and our family were praying around Liza when she receive the call to heaven. It was an anointed and appointed time. We love you!

Ed Snyder, a true boss and friend with a big heart

Ed is not only the husband of BJ, who is my best friend, but Liza's big boss and friend with a big heart. Because of Ed, Liza was able to work at home during treatments. SRA family has contributed to Joseph and Isabella's college funds and Race for Cure.
Liza sent us an email with this picture and very proud saying--"SRA is putting my story in their newsletter for Breast Cancer Awareness month. My office surprised me the other day by giving me roses and a gift certificate for $100 at McCormick & Schmick’s, just to show their support in my battle." Thank you, SRA family!
Marvelouz Marv and Liza
Marv was always there for Liza everytime she had to go to treatments. Liza always looked forward to eating out after doctor's appointment with you. You are a great friend, sister she didn't have, and moral and spiritual support for Liza. You were always there for her through out her treatment. Tita Marv and Uncle Swain, you are great! Thank you for inviting us to your house and at the beach and playing with Hannah, Joseph and Isabella. We love you! Joey

Little Flock School Friends
We have seen the heart and hand of Jesus extended through you to Joseph, Isabella, their Dad and their beloved Mother. Isabella asked prayer for her Mommy from her teacher, Miss Casey. And this is how everyone in the school learned about their Mommy needs prayers. Thank you for scholarship, summer camp, your love and support to Joseph and Isabella and our family. It's a joy to think about your compassion and your big hearts!
Old Friends Last Forever
BJ, your friendship never fades since 1968. You were there when Liza was born, you were there at Liza's Christening. You were there when Liza turns sixteen, you were there when she got married. You were there when her children were born, you were there for her at the doctor's when I was not around. You are there for her children when she is not around. You are always there for me and my family. We love you, you are more than family.

Awesome Marts
The Fabulous Mata-Arcilla-Castrence Families
When we look back, life seems to be quite short, especially spending time with our dear Liza. Thirty-six years seem to be a long time but it seems short when we lose our loved one. On the bright side, we thank the Lord for thirty-six years He had given us to spend time with Liza. She was and is very special to our hearts. She was a very loving, thoughtful, and caring daughter. Liza lives in our hearts forever. The love, prayers, and support of the Matas, the Arcillas, the Castrences have held us up together. We love you all for what you have done for us individually! Your love is unconditional!
